UMW Outdoor Track and Field Competes with CNU in Saturday Home Meet

The University of Mary Washington outdoor track and field teams tangled with foe Christopher Newport University in a home dual meet on Saturday, with several top results.

On the track, the men saw Brandon Baumgartner finish first in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 10:14.60, Reese Creadon take first in the 110 meter hurdles at 16.77, and Chester Pruitt finish first in the 800 meters at 2:02.12. The 4x400 meter relay of Baumgartner, Justin Libman, Matthew O'Cadiz, and Pruitt took first at 3:41.11.

In the field, UMW gained men's wins from Elijah Deem in the javelin at 38.52 meters, Mason Woods in the shot put at 14.04 meters, Kevin Munson in the pole vault at 4.60 meters, and Creadon in the high jump at 1.75 meters.

For the women, track winners included Ashley Applegate in the 1500 meters at 5:03.74, Desmone Logan in the 100 meter hurdles at 16.75, Makaila Keyes in the 400 meters at 59.26, and Camy Delean in the 800 meters at 2:27.58.

Field victors for the Eagles included Jean Woodrum in the hammer throw at 41.13 meters and the discus at 38.63 meters, Haileigh Byrd in the long jump at 4.61 meters and the triple jump at 10.19 meters, and Erin Gray in the pole vault at 2.59 meters. Josie Allamby won the high jump at 1.60 meters.

Both teams will compete in the Coast 2 Coast Athletic Conference Championships on April 30 and May 1.
