UMW Outdoor Track & Field Opens with Home Meet Against CNU

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams opened the 2021 season by competing against Christopher Newport University on Saturday at the Battleground.

For the women, the 4x100 relay of Lydia Armour, Makaila Keyes, Hana Bussell, and Valentina Leon-Ledezma ran to a time of 56.18, and Camy Delean took first in the 800 meters, at 2:29.87. Jean Woodrum won the hammer throw with a toss of 40.44 meters and the discus at 37.05 meters, Haileigh Byrd won the triple jump at 9.89 meters, and Bussell won the pole vault at 2.10 meters. Josie Allamby won the high jump at 1.55 meters. The 4x400 relay of Keyes, Leon-Ledezma, Chloe Allison, and Caroline Joyce finished first at 4:26.37.

On the men's side, the 4x100 meter relay of Matthew Rose, Darius Reed, Wilson Jackson, and Tyler Sakimura took first at 44.78. Ethan Young won the 110 meter hurdles at 16.31 as well as the 400 meter hurdles at 1:00.72. Tristan Johnson won the hammer throw at 43.64 meters, Mason Woods won the shot put at 13.67 meters, and Kevin Munson took first in the pole vault at 4.10 meters.

The Eagles will return to action next Saturday at Christopher Newport.
