UMW Men Place 2nd, Women 3rd at CAC Indoor Track & Field Championships

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed on day two of the 2020 Capital Athletic Conference championships on Saturday in Newport News, Va. The men finished in second place with 133 points, 13 behind first-place Christopher Newport, and the women took third, just 2.5 points behind second-place York. Senior Erin Andrewlevich was named the Female Track Athlete of the Meet, and senior Tristan John was named the Male Field Athlete of the Meet for the Eagles.

On Saturday, Johnson finished in second place in the shot put at 45 feet, 4.5 inches, as teammate Garrett Dunn-Ford took first at 48 feet, 8.75 inches. Senior David Danek finished first in the high jump at six feet, 1.5 inches, as teammate Ben Onguenetook third at six feet, one half inch. Senior Jeff Gibson took third in the 3000 meters at 8:44.31. Laurence Sneed took second in the 800 meters at 1:54.22, and Darius Reed was second in the 200 meters at 23.03, as well as the 60 meters, as freshman Aman Casey finished first at 6.96 seconds.

For the women, Andrewlevich won the 60 meters at 8.07, with teammate Angie Chirikos taking second. Andrewlevich won the 200 meters at 26.46, and finished a sweep of the sprints with a first in the 400 meters at 1:00.50. Haighleigh Byrd was third in the 60 hurdles, and also took first in the triple jump with a leap of 34 feet, 10.25 inches.
