UMW Track & Field Hosts Eagle Invitational Prior to CAC Championships

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams hosted the Eagle Invitational on Saturday with Catholic University and Marymount University at the Battleground, picking up numerous top performances.

On the men's side, Calhoun Stirling won the 3000 meter steeplechase at 10:18.36, the 4x100 meter relay took first at 44.50, Laurence Sneed won the 200 meters at 23.04 and the 400 meters at 50.46, Connor Quinn won the 800 meters at 2:04.20, Tyler Sakimura won the 100 meters at 11.30, and Jeff Gibson won the 5000 meters at 15:41.82. In field events, David Danek won the high jump at 1.98 meters, Rajai Walton won the long jump at 6.85 meters and the triple jump at 14.71 meters, Ripken Smith won the shot put at 14.10 meters, and Daniel Lee won the javelin at 51.16 meters.

For the women, wins came from the 4x100 meter relay at 50.20, Valentina Leon Ledezma in the 100 meters at 13.01, Camy Delean in the 800 meters at 2:27.95, Yamina James in the pole vault at 3.05 meters, and Desmone Logan in the triple jump at 10.45 meters. 

Both teams will compete in the CAC Championships at Christopher Newport beginning on Friday.
