University of Mary Washington sophomore runner Jeff Gibson broke the school and Capital Athletic Conference record in the 10,000 meters in the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. on Thursday night.
Gibson ran to a time of 29:58.42, beating a field made up predominately of Division I and II runners in a 31-runner field. He breaks a 21-year old record held by Jon Gates for the school mark by 50 seconds, and the conference mark set by York's Tim Hartung, set in 2013, by 10 seconds.
Gibson's mark is currently the second fastest in the nation in Division III this season.
