UMW Outdoor Track and Field Kicks Off Season by Hosting UMW Opener

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams started the 2018 campaign on Saturday at the Battleground by hosting the UMW Opener.

The women saw many quality results, as Erin Andrewlevich won the 200 meters at 26.58 as well as the 400 meters at 1:00.47. Kristy White won the 800 meters at 2:29.93, with teammate Marin Bader closely behind in second at 2:29.99. Angelica Chandler was first in the 100 meter hurdles at 16.99,  and Jean Woodrum finished first in the discus at 115' 3", ahead of teammate Bethany Wilson in second and Isabella Anderegg in third. Sam Gorton won the hammer throw at 149 feet, 3.25 inches, and Jackie Smith won the javelin at 113 feet, 7.75 inches.

Janel Moore finished second in the 100 meters at 12.95 and second in the 200 meters at 26.95. The women's 4x100 meter relay took second at 51.26, and Bethany Wilson was second in the high jump at 4'11". Brynne Reeves was second in the pole vault at 8'6".

For the men, Daniel Forjan finished first in the discus at 135 feet, four inches, as well as first in the shot put, at 48 feet. He also placed second in the hammer throw. Jose Mundo took second in the long jump at 20 feet, 3.75 inches, and David Danek took first in the high jump at six feet, 2.75 inches. The men's 4x100 relay took second at 45.38, and Davon Guerrier finished first in the 400 meter hurdles at 56.85 as well as the 110 meter hurdles at 14.84. Mundo took second in the 100 meters at 11.05.

Both teams will return to action next Saturday at the Weems Baskins Invitational.
