UMW Men's Outdoor Track & Field Finishes Fourth at CAC Championships; Women Take Fifth

The University of Mary Washington track and field teams hosted the 2017 Capital Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships this weekend at the new Battleground track facility. The men finished in fourth place, while the women finished in fifth place.

Highlights for the Eagles included first place finshes from freshman Jeff Gibson in the 10,000 meters at 31:14.01, and Samantha Gorton in the hammer throw at 144 feet, 7.25 inches. Other all-conference performances included David Danek in the high jump at six feet, 2.75 inches, Daniel Forjan in the shot put at 50 feet, four inches, and Sabrina Johnson in the discus at 129 feet, 7.75 inches.

Sheree Turner was third in the shot put, and Sabrina Johnson fourth. The women's 4x100 relay finished third at 51.53, Ben Sorensen was third in the 1500 meters at 3:58.36, and Erin Andrewlevich was third in the 200 meters at 26.65 and the 400 meters at 59.53. Cameron Coates took third in the 800 meters at 1:57.27. Gibson took third in the 5000 meters at 15:14.39.
