UMW Indoor Track & Field Opens at Roanoke Bast-Cregger Invitational with Two Firsts

The University of Mary Washingotn men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened competition at the Roanoke College Bast-Cregger Invitational on Saturday.

For the women, Janel Moore finished in fourth place in the 60 meters at 8.16 seconds. Erin Andrewlevich finished fourth in the 400 meters at 1:02.79, and Marin Bader finished second in the mile at 5:39.36. 

Jillian Wesibeck finished second in the 5000 meters at 19:38.67. The Eagles' 4x200 meter relay (Andrewlevich, Danielle Beard, Lauren Esprit, Moore) finished second at 1:50.29. The women's 4x400 relay took third at 4:23.45, and consisted of Andrewlevich, Bader, Esprit, and Avery Haislip.

The women's 4000 meter distance medley relay finished third (Bader, Hannah Huggins, Emily Knerr, Kristy White) at 14:00.37. Haislip took third in the pole vault at 2.85 meters. 

For the men, highlights included Camron Rauch finishing second in the 300 meters at 36.74, with Zach Kerns taking fourth at 37.20, Nathaniel Thompson finishe dthird in the 600 meters at 1:26.21, and and Chris Markham taking third in the 1000 meters at 2:50.28. 

The men's 4x200 relay of Rauch, Kerns, Kendall Moses, and Eriq Ibar took second at 1:34.18, and the men's distance medley relay finished in first place, with John Gillum, Tate Houff, Kevin McCarthy, and Nathaniel Thompson crossing the line with a winning 11:21.37.

David Danek won the high jump at 1.95 meters, and Jose Mundro finished fourth in the triple jump at 13.04 meters.

The Eagles will return to action on January 13 at the Christopher Newport Invitational.
