UMW Track and Field Competes at Roanoke Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Roanoke College Invitational on Saturday.

For the women, Jillian Weisbeck finished second in the 5000 meter run, at 19:10.66. Bailey Ratliff finished second in the high jump at 1.56 meters, and Taylor Cockerille and Sheree Turner finished 1-2 in the shot put. Cockerille took first at 12.55 meters, and Turner finished at 11.36 meters.

Turner won the discus at 40.38 meters, and Cockerille went second at 36.70 meters. Turner finished second in the hammer throw at 43.85 meters.

For the men, Chris Anderson took second in the 1500 meters at 4:10.18. Ian Granger took third in the 5000 meters at 15:48, with Nick Eghtessad fourth at 16:25. Dylon Garrett was second in the pole vault at 3.65 meters, with Adam Nugent third at 3.35 meters.

Daniel Forjan was fourth in the hammer throw at 41.69 meters, and fifth in the discus at 39.28 meters. Matt Parker was fourth in the javelin at 44.07 meters.

The women finished third among 10 schools, while the men took sixth among ten schools.
