UMW Outdoor Track and Field Opens at Dr. Jack Toms Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams opened competition at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational at Lynchburg College on Saturday.

For the throwers, junior Sheree Turner won the discus with a throw of 40.67 meters and also won the hammer throw at 42.10 meters. Senior Taylor Cockerille won the shot put with a throw of 12.41 meters, and was third in the discus at 38.84, and fourth in the hammer throw at 37.13 meters. Bethany Wilson finished second in the javelin at 32.02 meters.
The women's 800 meters saw three top-five performances by Eagles. Colleen Boyle finished first at 2:28.51, Emily Derse was fourth at 2:31.32, and Marin Bader was fifth 2:32.78. Boyle was also 5th in the 1500 meters at 4:55.34.
Janel Moore won the 200 meters at 27.06, and Danielle Holzhauser was second in the 100 meter hurdles at 17.47 and third in the 400 hurdles at 1:15.40.
Jillian Weisbeck finished fourth in the 5000 meters at 19:27.69, with Claudia Aurore taking fifth at 19:42.57. Bailey Ratliff was 4th in high jump with 1.42 meters clearance.
For the men, Zach Kerns took second in the 200 meters at 23.47, and Ian Granger finished second in the 5000 meters at 15:59.20. Dylon Garrett won the pole vault at 3.51 meters, with Adam Nugent taking second at 3.36 meters.
Daniel Forjan was fourth in the shot put at 12.92 meters, and fourth in the discus at 38.50 meters. Daniel Usher was third in the disc at 41.13 meters.
