Records Fall as UMW Track and Field Competes at CNU's Vince Brown Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Vince Brown Invitational at Christopher Newport University on Saturday, with several records passing by the wayside.

For the women, Taylor Cockerille set the school mark in the shot put, finishing second with a throw of 12.70 meters. Sheree Turner and Elysa Baker finished third and fourth in the weight throw, both breaking the school record at 15.57 and 15.24 meters.

Jillian Weisbeck finished fifth in the 5000 meters at 19:32.78, and Janel Moore finished eighth in the 400 meters at 1:01.49. Emily Knerr finished ninth in the 800 meters at 2:31.93, and Colleen Boyle took ninth in the mile at 5:25.58.

For the men, the distance medley relay was second with a time of 11:00.76. The relay was comprised of Chris Anderson, Kevin McCarthy, Tate Houff, and Kevin Speray.
Chris Anderson was ninth in the 800 meters at 1:59.57, and Ian Granger was 10th in the 3K with 9:04.75.
The Eagles will be back in action on February 21 for the CAC Championships at CNU.
