Janel Moore Named CAC Rookie of the Year as 2015 All-CAC Outdoor Track & Field Teams Named

Christopher Newport senior Enuma Ezenwa and Wesley sophomore Elizsha Streeter each won two individual events and finished second in one at the 2015 CAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field championships. The conference coaches determined that those performances should earn both standouts the 2015 Athlete of the Year award for outdoor women's track & field. Ezenwa and Streeter become the first competitors from their respective schools to win one of the Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year awards. Interestingly, each athlete has already secured a CAC Women's Indoor Athlete of the Year award - Ezenwa in 2014 and Streeter in 2015. Streeter also was presented the 2014 Indoor Rookie of the Year plaque.

Ezenwa, who won the 100 hurdles and 400 hurdles while finishing second in the long jump, is one of nine Christopher Newport athletes named to the 2015 All-CAC Outdoor Women's Track & Field team. She graduates with five All-CAC outdoor awards in the two seasons CNU has been a member of the conference.

Junior Lydia Cromwell (3,000 steeplechase) and sophomore Logan Harrington (800 and 1,500) joined Ezenwa on the All-CAC first team. Junior Jennifer Westerholm was a three-time second-team All-CAC honoree, picking up silver medals in the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and triple jump. Westerholm and Harrington, the 2014 CAC Women's Outdoor Rookie of the Year, also combined to run the final two legs of the second-place 4x400 relay. The final honoree for CNU was

Tyler Wingard, the nine-year veteran head coach who was selected by his peers as the 2015 Women's Outdoor Coach of the Year after leading the Captains to their second-straight team title. Wingard gains his second coaching award in 2014-15 as he was also picked as the Women's Co-Coach of the Year during the indoor season. Streeter, who won the 200 and 400 meter dashes and placed second in the 100, captured half of Wesley's six individual all-conference awards and contributed to both of the Wolverines' gold-medal relay teams.

Sophomore Kameko Webb's first-place performance in the long jump and anchor leg run in the 4x100 relay helped Wesley match CNU for the lead with five gold medals at the 2015 championship. Sophomore Angel Hall, who placed second in the 400 and ran the leadoff leg in the 4x100 relay, along with sophomore Dieunise Desir's silver medal performance in the 3,000 steeplechase, helped Wesley total all-conference awards in eight events.

Mary Washington, which finished third place in a competitive four-team race for the title, tied CNU with nine individual All-CAC awards, led by 2015 Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year Janel Moore, senior pole vaulter Claire Harrington and sophomore thrower Sheree Turner. Moore won the 100-meter dash and finished second in the 200 on the way to becoming the ninth Eagle newcomer to be named the CAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year - and the first since Crystal Capone captured the award in 2006.

Harrington completed her career as a four-time all-star in the vault, including winning the CAC title each of the past three years. Turner was a three-time all-conference award winner at the 2015 championship meet, capturing the gold medal in the hammer throw and adding silvers in the shot put and discus.

Junior Taylor Cockerille added the Eagles' fifth throwing award this season by winning the discus, completing the sweep in the event with Turner, while another strong freshman, Rachel Lewis, the 2015 CAC Indoor Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Year, picked up silver medals in the 800 and 1,500.

All seven of Salisbury's individual all-conference awards were earned in the field events, led by sophomore thrower Paige DeMent, who collected gold in the shot put and silver in the hammer. Classmates Megan McGowan (high jump), Ashley Jackson (triple jump) and freshman Nicole Bayer (javelin) joined the parade to the first-team All-CAC awards ceremony. Junior Shannon Gilligan (javelin), sophomore Sarah Taylor (pole vault) and the 4x100 relay team gained second-team All-CAC recognition.
