Four UMW Athletes Named to 2015 All-CAC Outdoor Track & Field Teams

Fresh off another four gold medal performance at the 2015 CAC Track & Field Championship, Salisbury junior Luke Campbell continues to add to his lengthy list of awards as he was named the conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year for the second-straight year.

In three seasons, Campbell has now collected more than a dozen all-conference awards with two Rookie of the Year awards (indoor and outdoor in 2012-13) and four Athlete of the Year awards (indoor and outdoor in 2013-14 and 2014-15). At the 2015 CAC Outdoor Championships, Campbell was honored as a member of the conference's Silver Anniversary Team. He also has three individual national championships to his credit ... so far.

It's the 11th time since Salisbury joined the CAC in 1994 that a Sea Gull athlete has captured the conference's top individual award, and the eighth time in the last 11 years. Campbell is the second Sea Gull to win the Outdoor Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Year award twice, joining 1994-95 winner Byron Pugh in that exclusive club. Gallaudet's Wayne Langbein (1992-93) and Patrick Deas (1996-97) also won the award twice in their careers.

Campbell and Jim Jones, who added his fourth-straight CAC Outdoor Men's Track & field Coach of the Year award in the voting of the conference coaches, led a parade of 16 total awards for the Sea Gulls, who won their fourth-straight team championship. Jones' nine CAC Outdoor Men's Track & Field Coach of the Year awards is a record.

Joining Campbell from individual events on the 2015 All-CAC first-team were seniors Tyler Austin (100), Thomas Burke (800), Dylan Burkett (shot put) and junior Xavier Stinson (high jump). Austin (200), Burke (1,500) and Burkett (hammer) were also second-team all-stars along with classmates Devon Hopkins (400 hurdles) and Ryan DiPascale (shot put and javelin), junior Jeff Jordan (discus) and freshman Zach Schmelz (400). Each of the Sea Gulls with the exception of the newcomer Schmelz is now at least a three-time All-Conference honoree at the annual outdoor championship meet, and each contributed in the past to SU's four-straight team titles during the indoor season. Schmelz started his career strong as he was a member with Campbell on both of SU's gold medal relays.

Christopher Newport finished second in the 2015 CAC Outdoor Championship, capturing eight all-conference awards, including a CAC-best six individual gold medals. Freshman Ryan Scott led the Captains with a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash and was selected by the coaches as the 2015 Outdoor Rookie of the Year.

Joining Scott on the All-CAC first team were senior Daniel Richard (3,000 steeplechase), junior Dominique Torres (triple jump), sophomores William Rabil (1,500) and Charles Pruitt (10K) as well as freshman Legend Boyesen (discus). Torres repeated as the CAC gold medalist in the triple jump while Richard moved up from his second-team position last year to the top spot this year in the steeplechase. Senior Daulton Teaford (100) and sophomore Ricardo Cabrera (3,000 steeplechase) added second-team All-CAC awards for the Captains. Wesley's program has grown in the past few years and earned seven all-conference awards in 2015, including a pair of individual honors for sophomore Dominic McAnulty in the 400-meter dash (first team) and the triple jump (second team). McAnulty also led off the Wolverines' second-place 4x400 relay team. Junior long jumper De'Vaughn Trader joined McAnulty on the All-CAC first team while freshmen Urgy Eado (800) and Roland Attoh-Okine (110 hurdles) picked up second-team individual awards. Trader (4x100) and Eado (4x400) also gained second-team relay all-conference honors.

Mary Washington senior pole vaulter Nicholas Judy collected his third career all-conference award and joined classmate and gold medalist Michael Lohr in sweeping top honors in the event. The Eagles also added second-team all-star recognition for the first time for sophomore Ben Sorenson (5K) and freshman Nick Smith (long jump).

York matched Wesley with two first-team All-CAC awards, earned by senior Michael Stetson (5K) and junior Robert Doster (javelin). The Spartans added a second-team all-star presentation in the distance events by senior Craig Eppler (10K).
