Judy, Sorensen Named to All-CAC Indoor Track Team

YORK, Pa. - The trophy case continues to get more crowded for Salisbury junior Luke Campbell, who added four more gold medals at the conference championship meet and was named the 2015 CAC Men's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Campbell won both the indoor and outdoor Rookie of the Year awards in 2013 as well as both Athlete of the Year Awards in 2014 (sharing the 2014 indoor title with York graduate Tim Hartung). He has won five indoor championship gold medals, including the 200 dash, 400 dash and 60 hurdles this year, one silver medal in 2013, as well as three golds and one silver in outdoor championship individual events. Campbell has also collected three NCAA Championship gold medals in his first two full seasons.

It's the third time in the four-year history of the CAC Indoor Track & Field Championship that a SU competitor has won the Men's Indoor Athlete of the Year award. Prior to Campbell's honor in 2013, Jacob Adedeji was the 2013 award winner.

Salisbury's Jim Jones, who guided the Sea Gulls to their fourth-straight men's indoor title, was named the CAC Coach of the Year by his peers for the third-straight year.

The Sea Gulls' crown was sparked by eight first-place finishes in 16 events. Returning to the All-CAC team as 2015 first-team all-stars are seniors Tyler Austin in the 60-meter dash, Ryan DiPascale in the shot put and Dylan Burkett in the weight throw. They were joined on the first-team All-CAC squad by Sea Gull classmate Thomas Burke, who won the mile run.

Burkett finishes his indoor career as a four-year all-star in the weight throw, including a three-time first-team honoree. DiPascale also won three-straight CAC indoor shot put titles starting in 2013. Burke also finished second in the 800, earning his third-straight All-CAC award in the event after gaining gold medals in 2013 and 2014.

Christopher Newport, led by 2015 Men's Indoor Track & Field Co-Rookie of the Year Jeffrey Dover, challenged SU for the title this year, gaining four first-place awards and five second-place honors at the championship meet. Dover captured top honors in the 800 and contributed to the first-place distance medley relay. The Captains also received first-team All-CAC performances by junior Dominique Torres in the triple jump and freshman Wesley Shrieves in the long jump. It was the second-straight year Torres won the triple jump crown.

Five Captains also earned second-team All-CAC recognition, led by senior Samuel Martin in the mile run. Martin, who earned first-team honors in the mile in 2014, also anchored CNU's first-place distance medley relay quartet.

Frostburg State ranked third in the CAC with four all-conference awards, led by 2015 Men's Indoor Track & Field Co-Rookie of the Year Collin Schultz. The Bobcat freshman cleared the top height in the high jump to earn a spot at the awards stand. Junior John Lowery collected two of FSU's three second-team All-CAC awards, repeating his 2014 performances in the shot put and weight throw. Mary Washington, Wesley and York all collected three All-CAC awards at the 2015 championship.

UMW junior Nicholas Judy captured his third-straight title in the pole vault and was joined on the All-CAC first team by sophomore Ben Sorensen in the 3,000-meter run. Sorensen also placed second in the 5,000-meter run. Senior Michael Stetson earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career by crossing the finish line first in the 5,000-meter run, leading York's all-star performances. Wesley senior Matt Bundy shared the honor of being the first male student-athlete to earn All-CAC recognition in one event in four-straight seasons with Burkett. Bundy placed second in the 60-meter hurdles for the second-straight season after winning the event in the first two years of the CAC championship. Bundy also anchored Wesley's second-place 4x400 relay team.
