UMW Outdoor Track and Field Competes at Salisbury Elite Qualifier on Friday Evening

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams sent representatives to the Salisbury University Elite Qualifier on Friday.

For the women, Claire Harrington won the pole vault with a leap of 11 feet, 6.5 inches, Taylor Cockerille won the shot put with a throw of 41 feet, 11.75 inches, Sheree Turner won the hammer throw at 149 feet, 10 inches and was second in the discus at 133 feet, nine inches.

The men saw Glenn Taylor run a season best 10.69 in the 100 meters and 21.93 in the 200 meters; Nick Judy won the pole vault at 15 feet, 3.75 inches; and Nick Smith won the long jump with a school record 23 feet, 0.50 inches.

The official announcement for NCAA selections will be made Sunday.
