UMW Men's and Women's Track Teams Compete at Gettysburg Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams competed on Saturday at the Mason Dixon Championships in Gettysburg, Pa., with numerous top finishes.

On the women's side, freshman Janel Moore finished first in the 200 meters at 25.7, Rachel Lewis took first in the 800 meters at 2:19.4, and the 4x100 relay of Claire Harrington, Moore, Emily Derse, and Bailey Ratliff (50.15) and 4x400 relay of Harrington, Lewis, Moore, and Derse (4.06.6) took first as well.

Taylor Cockerille won the shot put at 41 feet, 10 inches, and took second to teammate Sheree Turner in the discus. Harrington won the pole vault at 10 feet.

For the men, Nick Smith took first in both the long jump (21 feet, six inches) and triple jump (43 feet, 5.75 inches), Nick Judy won the pole vault at 15 feet, one inch, and Glenn Taylor won the 100 meters at 10.5.

Both teams will be off for finals before competing in the CAC Championships on May 2 in York, Pa.
