UMW Track and Field Competes at UMBC Big Dawg Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the UMBC Big Dawg Invitational on Saturday, with several quality standards.

For the women, Claire Harrington took first in the pole vault with a leap of 3.15 meters. Taylor Cockerille took second in the discus with a throw of 37.74 meters, while Rachel Lewis was second in the 800 meters at 2:27.73. Lauren Braney was second in the 5000 meters at 18:16.69, while Elysa Baker was second in the hammer throw at 41.05 meters.

On the men's side, Frank Corona won the javelin with a throw of 44.55 meters. Nick Smith took second in the triple jump at 13.32 metersm while Glenn Taylor finished the 200 in third place at 22.73. Ian Granger finished third in the 5K at 16:08.22.

Both teams will be back in action on April 1 at the York College Twilight meet at 4 p.m.
