UMW Track and Field Wraps Up Strong Weekend at CNU Invite

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams competed this weekend at the Christopher Newport Invitational.

The women saw the Eagles finish 3-4-5-6 in the 3,000 meters, with Natalie Young finishing third with a time of 10:35.13, followed by Liz Green, Sam Park, and Claudia Autore. Claire Harrington won the pole vault with a leap of 10 feet, 10 inches, Jordan Watkins was second in the triple jump at 34 feet, 0.75 inches, and Cheyenne Falls won the shot put at 40 feet, seven inches, as UMW finished 1-2-3 in the event. Taylor Cockerille was second, and Sheree Turner third.

Freshman Glenn Taylor finished second in the 100 meters at 10.94, Matt Shaughnessy was second in the 1500 meters at 4:06.39, and Ian Granger was second in the 3000 meters at 9:14.50. The 4x100 meter relay finished third at 43.28 seconds, and the 4x400 relay finished second at 3:23.70. Nick Judy was second in the pole vault at 14 feet, 3.25 inches, and Michael Lohr tied for third at 13 feet, 3.5 inches. Frank Corona was fourth in the javelin at 159 feet, eight inches.

The Eagles will compete at the CAC Championships in two weeks.
