UMW Track and Field Competes at Johns Hopkins

The University of Mary Washington track and field teams competed at the Johns Hopkins University Invitational on Saturday, with several top results and two school records.

The women saw Cheyenne Falls break the school record in the shot put, with a throw of 41 feet, 5.75 inches. Claire Harrington finished first in the pole vault with a personal best leap of 11 feet, 0.75 inches, and Natalie Young was first in the 5000 meters at 17:41.

Sam Park was second in the steeplechase at 11:53, and Taylor Cockerille was second in the discus at 127 feet, eight inches, as UMW finished 2-3-4. Elysa Baker took third in the hammer throw at 135 feet, eight inches.

For the men, Glenn Taylor was first in the 100 meters with a new school record time of 10.78, and second in the 200 at 21.89. Zach Kerns was 2nd in the 400 meters at 49.94, and Nick Judy was third in the pole vault at 14 feet.

"Overall it was a great day", said head coach Stan Soper. "We had a few personal and season bests, and two school records on a long day."

The Eagles will compete in the CAC Championships in two weeks.
