UMW Competes at Frostburg State Unvitational

The University of Mary Washington outdoor track and field teams competed at the Frostburg State University Invitational on Saturday, with several top results.

For the men, Chris Markham won the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:49.35, Zach Kerns won the 200 meters at 22.68 and the 400 meters at 50.59, Glenn Taylor won the 100 meters at 11.10, and Nick Judy won the pole vault at 13 feet, 7.25 inches.

For the women, Emily Derse finished third in the 100 and 200 meters, and ran the first leg of the 4x400 meter relay, which placed second at 4:20.95. Sheree Turner took second in the hammer throw at 125 feet, seven inches, Jordan Watkins won the triple jump at 34 feet 0.25 inches, and also took third in the long jump, Claire Harrington won the pole vault at nine feet, 6.25 inches, Taylor Cockerille won the discus at 124 feet, 11 inches, as the Eagles finished 1-2-3 in the event, and Cheyenne Falls won the shot put at 40 feet, 0.50 inches, as UMW went 1-2-3.

The Eagles will compete in the Johns Hopkins Invitational next Saturday.
