UMW Indoor Track Competes at George Mason Last Chance Meet

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the George Mason University Last Chance meet on Sunday, with senior Scott Plunkett setting a school record in the 3000 meters.

Plunkett finished second in the event with a school-best time of 8:37.91. Also on the men's side, Matt Shaughnessy finished fifth in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 1:56.53. In the 400 meters, Mike Atkinson ran a time of 50.76, and in the mile, Kevin Robertson ran a season-best time of 4:33.

The women saw Samantha Montgomery leap 10 feet, four inches in the pole vault, and Elysa Baker had a season-best 39 feet, 1.75 inches in the weight throw.

The Eagles will compete in another last chance meet on Saturday.
