The University of Mary Washington women's track and field team
finished in second place at the 2012 Capital Athletic Conference
Championships, while the men finished third. The Eagles women
finished three points ahead of York College with 124 points, behind
Salisbury, who also won the men's title. The UMW men had 86 points,
behind York's 108 and Salisbury's 253.
On Sunday, the Eagles saw All-CAC performances from Brooke
Thompson in the 100 meter hurdles at 15.22 seconds, in an
event UMW finished 2-3-4 (Michelle Sutherland was third
and Paige Kelly fourth); Kelly finished second in the
200 meter finals at 25.95; and Chris Marino finished
second in the 3000 meter steeplechase at 9:52.09.
Sutherland finished first in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:04.16;
Dalton Echard took second in the men's 400 hurdles at
55.69; and Tara Landy took second in the 5000 meters at
19:38.16 (with Ashley Hess taking third).
The women's 4x400 meter relay (Kelly, Kelsey Carter,
Thompson, and Sutherland) took second at 4:02.31, and the men's
4x400 relay (Matt Bechtel, Chris Anderson,
Kevin Robertson, and Allan Meyer) took
second at 3:24.59.
