Track and Field Competes at Washington & Lee/VMI Carnival
The University of Mary Washington men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Washington & Lee/VMI meet this weekend, with several strong results.

On the men's side, Sean Herlihy finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 168 feet, one inch. Matt Geller finished fifth in the hammer throw (152 feet, 11 inches), fifth in the discus (124 feet, 5 inches), and fifth in the shot put (42 feet, 2 inches). Scott Plunkett ran the 5K 15:31.17, Matt Shaughnessy ran the 800 in 1:56.95, and Scott Matthiessen ran the 200 in 23.20. Daniel Piccolo ran the 100 meters in 11.46.

On the women's side, Amanda Zapata finished sixth in the javelin with a throw of 106 feet, three inches. Sarah Dawes took second in the 800 meters at 2:18.26, and Liz Green took fourth in the 10K with a time of 38:43.

Both teams will be back in action next weekend at York College of Pa.
