UMW Women's Indoor Track Takes Third at Inaugural CAC Championship; Men Place Fourth
The University of Mary Washington indoor track and field teams competed at the first-ever Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday in Fairfax, Va. The Eagle women finished in third place, while the men took fourth.

Top performances for the women included Brooke Thompson finishing first in the 60 meter hurdles at 9.45; Michelle Sutherland taking second in the 400 meters at 1:01.31; and Paige Kelly taking second to Thompson in the 60 hurdles at 9.52. The 4x400 meter relay (Thompson, Kelsey Carter, Sutherland, Kelly) took second with a time of 4:08.43, and the distance medley relay (Trinity Smyth, Owen McMillan, Mara Cate, Claire Harrington) finished second at 12:47.39.

All-conference finishes for the men included Matt Shaughnessy taking second in the 800 meters at 1:58.52; Will Green finishing second in the mile at 4:26.23; Scott Plunkett taking second in the 5000 meters at 15:36.24; the men's distance medley relay (Chris Anderson, Frank Corona, Daniel Ache, Will Green) finishing first with a time of 10:54.44; Nathaniel Saint-Preux finishing first in both the long jump (21 feet, 10.25 inches) and the triple jump (44 feet, six inches).

The women placed third with 76 points, behind Salisbury's 188 points and York's 120. The men had 74.5 points, behind Salisbury's 150, Frostburg's 91, and York's 78.5.
