UMW Indoor Track Competes at Liberty Invitational

The University of Mary Washington men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Liberty University Invitational this weekend.

Senior Matt Geller (Huntington, N.Y., Harborfields) threw the weight 51 feet, 5.75 inches, good for 10th place. Classmate Daniel Piccolo (Fairfax, Va., WT Woodson) ran the 200 meters in 23.98. Sophomore Scott Plunkett (Annandale, Va., Annandale) ran the 1000 meters at 2:39.

For the women, Michelle Sutherland (Norfolk, Va., Norfolk Academy) finished in fourth place in the 500 meters at 1:21.55, and Dawes took second in the 1000 meters at 3:09.

Both teams will compete at the Keough Invitational at Haverford College next weekend.
