UMW Softball Falls to No. 1 Salisbury

The Mary Washington softball team dropped a doubleheader to No. 1 Salisbury on Saturday afternoon in Salisbury, Md.

Game 1 - Eagles lose - 6-2

UMW fell behind by three runs through the first six innings, but scored two runs in the sixth to come within a run of the Sea Gulls in the late innings.

Bridget Laychak drove in the Eagles' first run with a sac fly that scored Hannah Steele, then Erica Shoop singled home Shelby Presgrave.

But Salisbury would go on to score three in the bottom half to take a 6-2 lead.

Steele and Shoop were the two Eagles that recorded a pair of hits, while Presgrave, Emily Angel and Brigid Ward recorded a hit.

Game 2 - Eagles lose - 13-0

The Eagles fell 13-0 to the Sea Gulls in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.

Emily Angel and Emma Schieda recorded the Eagles' two hits.

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Shenandoah.
