UMW Softball Falls at #1 Salisbury in C2C Tournament on Friday

The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped an 8-0 decision at #1 Salisbury University on Friday morning in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. The Eagles see their season come to a close with a 19-19 record.

The game scoreless after one inning, and in the second, Nya Lloyd led off with a bunt single, but the Eagles were unable to score. In the bottom of the second, Salisbury scored four runs on a bases-loaded error. Again in the third, UMW gained a leadoff hit from Brigid Ward, but again came away without scoring after a double play and ground out.

Salisbury plated four runs in the fourth on four hits and a walk. The Eagles were unable to score in the fifth to end the game.

In addition to Lloyd and Ward, Emma Schieda provided a single for the Eagles. Caitlyn Burch took the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven hits in four innings, with two walks and a strikeout.
