ANNANDALE, Va. -- The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) announced the 2020 College Division All-State softball team Tuesday. The individual awards were headlined by Kaylee Jones (UVA Wise), Hanna Hull (Virginia Wesleyan), Brantley Swift (Bridgewater) and Keith Parr (Christopher Newport).
In the COVID-19 shortened season, Jones was named Player of the Year after batting .446 with nine home runs and 23 RBIs in 24 games. She also led the South Atlantic Conference in slugging (1.046) and on base percentage (.571).
Hull took home the Pitcher of the Year award for the fourth time in her career and was 8-0 in 2020. In her 47.1 innings of work, Hull scattered 20 hits, allowed one run, fanned 66 batters, walked 13 and finished the season with a 0.15 ERA.
Swift, a freshman garnered Rookie of the Year honors for her efforts in the circle after closing out 2020 with a 7-0 mark, striking out 23, walking four in 50.2 innings. In the March 3 contest against Bluffton, Swift fanned a career-high seven batters in the 6-2 victory.
Parr was named Coach of the Year, after leading the Captains to a 12-1 record and finishing the season ranked third in the country. CNU won its first 12 games of the season, which includes a 10-2 victory over 2019 national champion and No.1 Texas Lutheran.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
