UMW Softball Falls to Madonna, 8-1, on Friday

The University of Mary Washington softball team fell to Madonna University, 8-1, on Friday afternoon in Tucson, AZ. The Eagles slip to 8-6-1 on the season. UMW concludes their spring break trip with a 4-3 record.

UMW scored their lone run in the fifth inning. Kelli Marie Anderson led off with a single, then Maggie Mrowka singled to put runners on first and second. Megan Hibbs singled home Anderson to give the Eagles a run for the game.

Danielle Newman and Kayla Mann recorded the other two hits on the day for the Eagles. Hadlea Valera threw 4.0 innings in relief, allowing three earned runs and striking out three batters.

UMW will be back in action on Thursday as they will travel to Shenandoah for a doubleheader at 3 and 5 p.m.
