UMW Softball Falls to Top Seed Salisbury in Game Three of CAC Tournament

The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a 6-0 decision at fifth-ranked and top-seeded Salisbury University in game three of the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles slip into the loser's bracket, and will play in an elimination game on Friday at noon.

The Eagles held the Sea Gulls scoreless in the first, but the Gulls scored once in the second and added a three-run homer in the third. The Gulls added two runs in the sixth inning.

UMW was limited to two hits, with Emma Rakowski and Emily Briggs contributing singles.  Courtney Merson took the loss for the Eagles, allowing six runs on 13 hits. She walked one and struck out three.

UMW will be back in action on Friday at noon when they face Frostburg.
