UMW Softball Drops Twinbill to Eastern in Myrtle Beach on Monday

The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a pair of games to Eastern University on Monday in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Game scores were 5-4 and 2-0.

In game one, the Eagles fell, 2-0. The Eagles rapped out six hits, all singles, by six different hitters, but were unable to cross home plate. Erin Stinson was the tough-luck loser, allowing four hits in six innings, with no walks and five strikeouts, and two unearned runs allowed.

In the second game, the Eagles fell 5-4, with Amy Sykes providing a single and a double and Olivia Tatara adding a pair of triples, driving in one run and scoring another. Allison Griffith had a run-producing double and run scored as well.

Three Eagle pitchers combined to allow four earned runs in seven innings, with Ashton Ferneyhough striking out one in two innings, Stinson allowing three earned runs in three innings, and Kara Deppe allowing one earned run in two innings.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday from Myrtle Beach.
