UMW Softball Splits Twinbill in Myrtle Beach on Thursday

The University of Mary Washington softball team split its Thursday games in Myrtlle Beach, falling to Indiana Wesleyan, 5-2, before topping Rosemont, 8-0.

In the opener, UMW fell despite scoring two in the first inning. Senior Brittany Scites had two hits to pace the Eagles, scoring a run in the first. Alex Tenney reached on an error and scored in the first, as the runs were driven in by Olivia Tatara and Hannah Otterman.

In game two, the Eagles rapped out seven hits in five innings for the 8-0 win. Tenney had three hits for the Eagles (including a pair of doubles), driving in a pair of runs. Zoie Patrick had a pair of hits and scored two runs as well. Hannah Williams went 1-2 with a pair of RBI with a double.

Rachel Watts picked up the win, allowing one hit in four innings, with one walk and eight strikeouts.

UMW will return to action on Friday for two more games at the Snowbird Spring Training event.
