Eagles Lose Two to Salisbury on Saturday

Salisbury, Md.-- The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped two at Salisbury; 8-0 and 9-1 on Saturday. The losses drop the Eagles to 13-12, 6-6 CAC on the year.

Salisbury pitcher Rachel Johnson threw a five inning perfect game for the Sea Gulls in game one. UMW could not get a hit on the reigning CAC Pitcher of the Week. The win for Johnson makes her 16-0 on the year.

Game two saw the Eagles jump out the an early 1-0 lead after the top half of the first. Grace Henry led off the game with a single to center, and advanced to second after a Stefannie Asselanis sac bunt. Emily Briggs was next, and moved Henry to third on a groundout. Erica Falvey drove Henry home on an RBI single to third.

That was all the offense the Eagles could muster as Kathryn Larson shut down the Eagles attack after that inning. Ashton Ferneyhough got the loss, going 1.1 innings giving up seven runs on seven hits.

The Eagles close out the regular season against Shenandoah at home on Tuesday, April 15th. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
