UMW Softball Drops Twinbill at Christopher Newport

The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a pair of games at Christopher Newport University, 7-0 and 5-1, on Wednesday in Newport news, Va. The Eagles fall to 9-16 on the season.

In the opener, the Eagles fell behind early and were unable to produce an offensive rally, ending the contest with four hits in a 7-0 loss. Brandee Adams, Hannah Otterman, Kerry Busby, and Hannah Williams provided hits for the Eagles.

In the nighcap, UMW fell behind as CNU built a 5-0 advantage before the Eagles scored when Hannah Pierson scored Stefannie Asselanis with an RBI single. The Eagles had four hits, with Pierson, Asselanis, Adams, and Alex Tenney gaining singles.

Mary Washingotn will return to action on Saturday when they visit Salisbury University for a CAC doubleheader starting at 12:30 p.m.
