UMW Softball Falls at Catholic in Season Finale
The University of Mary Washington softball team dropped a doubleheader at Catholic University, 4-3 and 8-4, on Wednesday afternoon in Washington, D.C. The Eagles close the season with a record of 24-20.

The Eagles scored first in the opener in the top of the first, and Catholic answered with one in the bottom of the frame. After Catholic jumped ahead with one in the third, UMW took the lead with two in the fifth. But Catholic scored twice in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the win.

Hannah Williams led the Eagles with three hits, while Michelle Durnavich and Kerry Busby each had two hits. Junior Annie Blaine took the loss, allowing four earned runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings, walking one and striking out one.

In the second game, Catholic charged ahead with five runs in the second en route to an 8-4 win. Busby led the Eagles with three hits, while Emily Nykorchuk and Brandee Adams each had two hits. Alecia Boykin had a three-run double as well.
