UMW Softball Sweeps Twinbill From Gwynedd Mercy in Myrtle Beach

The University of Mary Washington softball team swept a doubleheader from Gwynedd Mercy College on Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Eagles won the opener, 11-1, and then the nightcap, 9-1, to improve to 6-6 on the season.

In the opener, Danielle Cunetta gained the win, allowing no runs on four hits in three innings with no walks. Sophomore shortstop Bireet Chitty went 2-2 with two runs scored, and Amanda Adams went 2-3 with a pair of RBI. Brianna D'Agata was 2-3 with three RBI, and Alex Tenney was 2-3 with three runs scored.

In game two, junior Annie Blaine gained the win, allowing one run on two hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Chitty was 3-3 with three runs scored, Morgan Lamon was 3-3 with three runs, and Adams drove in two runs.

The Eagles will continue in Myrtle Beach later in the week.
