The University of Mary Washington softball team used a potent offensive attack in downing Capital Athletic Conference for Gallaudet University, 14-2 and 14-5, on Thursday in Washington D.C.

In the opener, center fielder Koah Chitty (Stafford, Va., Brooke Point) went 3-3 with four runs scored, and first baseman Morgan Lamon (Herndon, Va., Oakton) went 3-4 with four RBI to lead the way at the plate. Elizabeth Crowe (Alexandria, Va., West Potomac) and Kerry Busby (Kennet, Pa., Kennett) each had two hits for UMW.

Crowe earned the win on the bump for the Eagles, allowing no earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts and two walks.

In the second game, the Eagles saw Kaitlin Petrella (Leesburg, Va., Heritage) rap a pair of doubles and Amanda Adams (Ashburn, Va., Stone Bridge) add a pair of hits. Chitty walked three times and scored three runs.

Freshman Annie Blaine (Arlington, Va., Yorktown) got the win in game two, allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

The Eagles will host Hood College for a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
