#21 UMW Men's Tennis Falls, 6-3, at #18 Johns Hopkins

The 21st ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to 18th ranked Johns Hopkins University on Saturday in Baltimore, Md. The Eagles slip to 12-7 on the season.

The Eagles quickly jumped on top, scoring a pair of wins at doubles. Rishi Charan Shankar and Peter Leese gained an 8-6 victory at one, and Trevor Rein and Evan Fisher scored a big 8-5 win at two, before UMW narrowly gained a sweep before falling in a tiebreaker at three.

In singles, Charan Shankar scored the lone Eagle point, with a 6-4, 7-5 win at one, in boosting his NCAA Tournament chances. Matches at two and five went to third sets before the Eagles fell.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host Virginia Wesleyan University at 3:00 p.m.
