#29 UMW Men's Tennis Tops #19 Washington & Lee, 5-4, on Sunday

The 29th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team over came a 2-1 deficit in doubles to claim a 5-4 victory at #19 Washington and Lee University on Sunday afternoon in Lexington, Va. The Eagles improve to 8-2 on the season.

UMW scored a point at one doubles, as Rishi Charan Shankar and Peter Leese defeated Evan Erb and Will Kistler, 8-7 (6). The Eagles dropped narrow decisions at two doubles (8-6) and at three doubles (8-5).

In singles play, the Eagles roared ahead to claim four singles matches, and the win. Brock Ladehoff scored a win at two singles, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, over Will Kistler, and Artis Hart won at three, 6-4, 6-1, over Eli Hirshberg. Trevor Rein gained a win at four, 6-4, 6-4, and Peter Leese scored a 6-4, 6-4 win at five.

The Eagles will be back in action again on Wednesday when they host Centre College at 3:30 p.m.
