#37 UMW Men's Tennis Tops #23 Kenyon, Stevens on Saturday to Improve to 4-0

The 37th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team, ranked 37th in the nation, downed #23 Kenyon College, 6-3, and Stevens Institute, 7-2, on Saturday at the UMW Indoor Tennis Center. The Eagles improve to 4-0 on the season.

UMW opened with a big 6-3 win over Kenyon. The Eagles swept all three doubles matches, with Rishi Charan Shankar and Peter Leese winning at one, 8-7, Brock Ladehoff and Trevor Rein winning at two, 8-4, and Jack Riordan and Artis Hart taking three, 8-4.

In singles, Charan Shankar won at one, 7-5, 6-2, Rein won at five, 6-3, 6-4, and Riordan won at six, 6-2, 6-4.

The Eagles then took on Stevens, and gained doubles wins from Charan Shankar and Leese at one, 8-5, Ladehoff and Rein at two, 8-3, and Hart and Riordan at three, 8-7. Singles wins came from Charan Shankar at one, 6-1, 6-2, Ladehoff at two, 7-5, 6-3, Rein at three, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6, and Albert Vladimirskiy at six, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.

The Eagles will be back in action on March 3 at Pomona Pitzer College, at 1 p.m. Pacific.
