UMW Men's Tennis Blanks Shenandoah on Wednesday

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated Shenandoah University, 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the Hegmann Family Courts. The Eagles improve to 8-7 on the season.

The Eagles started off with a 3-0 sweep in doubles. At one, Rishi Charan Shankar and Andrew Watson gained an 8-2 win at one, Andrew Cooper and Brock Ladehoff won at two, 8-4, and Foster Evans and Ryan Meyer won at three, 8-1.

In singles, Charan Shankar won at one, 6-4, 6-4, over Jovan Cirkovic, Artis Hart won at two, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, over Artem Babaiev, and Andrew Cooper scored a 6-0, 6-0 win at three over Dominic Suwak. Peter Leese won at four, 5-7, 7-5, 1-0, over Keith Orr, Drew Campbell won at five, 6-0, 6-0, over Brenton Baugh, and Foster Evans downed Jonathan Clippinger at six, 6-0, 6-0.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they host Johns Hopkins University at 1:00 p.m.
