UMW Men's Tennis Tops Chapman, 7-2, to Improve to 3-0

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team swept all three doubles to forge ahead early in defeating Chapman University, 7-2, on Sunday in Orange, Cal. The Eagles improve to 3-0 on the season.

In doubles, Rishi Charan Shankar and Nick Spera defeated Blinder and Marks, 8-3, at two and Moses Hutchison and Andrew Watson downed Wilkins and Cohn, 8-6, at one. Peter Leese and Cole Tecce defeated Sawsemino and DeHart at three, 8-7, at three to complete the sweep and give UMW a 3-0 lead heading to singles play.

The Eagles picked up wins from Charan Shankar at two over Cohn, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, Tecce at three over Blinder at three, 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, Spera at four over Marsh, 6-4, 6-1, and Leese over Sawsemino at five, 6-2, 7-6.

The Eagles will face Pomona Pitzer on Wednesday night in Pomona, Cal., at 7:00 p.m. Eastern.
