UMW Men's Tennis Outlasts Kenyon, 5-4, on Sunday

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team defeated Kenyon College, 5-4, in a battle of teams traditionally ranked nationally. The Eagles improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Eagles continued their strong doubles play on Sunday, claiming all three doubles matches. Moses Hutchison and Andrew Watson claimed an 8-2 win at one over Luis Platas and Thomas Nanarakal, and Rishi Charan Shankar and Nick Spera defeated Picot and Leblanc, 8-6. Peter Leese and Cole Tecce completed the weep with an 8-6 win at three, over Yandapareri and Zhang.

In singles, Hutchison won at one, 6-2, 6-2, over Platas, and Watson won at three, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, over Yandapareri, scoring three straight points to come from behind to take the match point.

The Eagles will return to action next Sunday at Chapman University at 2:00 p.m. as part of the team's annual trip to California.
