Moses Hutchison Named Co-Winner of UMW Male Athlete of the Year

Senior tennis All-America selection Moses Hutchison has been named one of two winners of the 2020-21 University of Mary Washington Male Athlete of the Year. Due to the COVID-19 virus, winners were selected this year from the senior class, and based on their four-year careers.

Hutchison, a Business/Pre-Law major, advanced to the NCAA Championships in singles and doubles this spring after leading the Eagles to a 10-3 record as the #1 singles and #1 doubles player.  He has gained all-conference honors each of his three seasons, and was named an All-American in doubles in 2019, as he and partner Matt Miles advanced to the national quarterfinals.

This season, he finished with a 10-5 record at one singles, including five wins over fellow competitiors from this year's NCAA Championship. He and Andrew Watson advanced to the national doubles tournament, marking Hutchison's second appearance in the event in three seasons. He claimed the UMW Male Athlete of the Month award for May.

The Male and Female Athlete of the Year awards have been awarded every year since 2013.
