The 2021 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Men's Tennis Awards and All-Conference Teams are listed below:
Player of the Year: Marcos Dias - Southern Virginia
In his second year with the Knights, Dias continues to shine, leading the team to a 10-5 regular season record in the No. 1 singles spot. Dias marked key victories against Washington and Lee University and Salisbury's Alec Angradi who was previously nationally ranked last year. With his performance, the São Paulo, Brazil native earned a No. 5 regional ranking in doubles.
Doubles Team of the Year: Marcos Dias/Daniel Blonquist - Southern Virginia
The duo put up impressive numbers during the regular season, only falling to three opponents all year while earning quality wins over two Division 1 opponents. In conference play, the pair recorded an important win over Salisbury's and Mary Washington's team, warranting them the No. 1 doubles team in the region.
Rookie of the Year: Rishi Charan Shankar - Mary Washington
Rishi Charan Shankar has been one of Mary Washington's most consistent performers this season, winning seven singles matches (one shy of the team lead) and finishing with a 3-0 mark in singles in conference play, primarily at two and three. He and doubles partner Peter Leese have finished 6-0 on the season, with a pair of wins in conference play.
Scholar-Athlete of the Year: Ian Siew - Salisbury
Ian Siew is a geography major with a focus in atmospheric science and a double minor in math and computer science with a 3.8 grade-point average. Siew is a student in the Honors College and a member of the Geographic Honors Society. A Dean's List student for all nine semesters since Fall 2016, he is a leader of CRU, a religious student organization at SU and was the 2020 SU Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. On the court, Siew was a 2019 ITA Regional Champion in doubles and a 2019 ITA All-American. Siew is also a six-time all-conference honoree.
Coaching Staff of the Year: Southern Virginia - Tom Snelson, Head Coach
Closing out his fifth year with the program, Snelson leads his team to several program milestones this year. The Knights secured two wins over nationally ranked opponents, while having the most players regionally ranked in a season. With the conference honors, this marks the most players in program history to receive All-Conference awards.
