UMW Men's Tennis Tops Va. Wesleyan, 8-1, on Monday Afternoon

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team ran its win streak to seven straight with an 8-1 victory over Virginia Wesleyan University on Monday afternoon at the Edward Hegmann Tennis Complex. UMW moves to 8-2 overall on the season.

The Eagles started by sweeping the doubles matches, with Moses Hutchison and Andrew Watson winning at one, 8-3, Peter Leese and Rishi Charan Shankar at two, 8-2, and Priyan Desilva and Artis Hart at three, 8-1.

In singles, UMW scored wins from Watson at one, 4-6, 7-5, 14-12, Nick Spera at three, 6-0, 6-1, Hart at four, 6-3, 6-1, Desilva at five, 6-1, 6-2, and Andrew Cooper at six, 6-1, 6-1.

UMW will be back in action on Saturday when they host Salisbury University at 2:00 p.m.
