Mary Washington's Hutchison & Hagino Sweep C2C Tennis Athlete of the Week Accolades

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the seventh week of the 2021 tennis season. Mary Washington sophomore Amanda Hagino earned C2C Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week accolades, while Mary Washington junior Moses Hutchison claimed C2C Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors.


WOMEN'S TENNIS: Amanda Hagino - Mary Washington

Mary Washington sophomore Amanda Hagino scored two singles and two doubles wins this week against St. Mary's and Christopher Newport to keep Mary Washington unbeaten against NCAA Division III competition this season. On Thursday at St. Mary's, she teamed with Claire Coleman at one doubles for an 8-0 victory, and then claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win at two singles. On Sunday at CNU, she and Coleman picked up a key 8-6 victory at two doubles. Hagino caped the Eagles' 6-3 win over the Captains with a three set victory, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3.


MEN'S TENNIS: Moses Hutchison - Mary Washington

Junior Moses Hutchison kept Mary Washington undefeated in conference play this week, picking up wins at one singles and one doubles as the Eagles defeated St. Mary's College and Christopher Newport University on the road. He and Andrew Watson defeated Ryan Macy and Alec Strause of CNU in an exciting 8-7 match, and Hutchison then downed Scotty Hunter at one singles in three sets, 7-6, 1-6, 6-3, for two crucial points against the Captains. On Wednesday, Hutchison won a 6-0, 6-1 score over Nick Rohr at one singles, and teamed with Watson to take an 8-0 victory over the Seahawks.

LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS

Salisbury senior Alec Angradi tallied two wins in Salisbury's 8-1 win on Saturday to improve his 2021 record to 4-0 in singles and 4-1 in doubles play. He teamed with Ian Siew to earn an 8-3 win over VWU's Mitchell Perry and Felix Bevc. In No. 1 singles, he traded sets with Bevc before collecting the three-set win, 6-3, 6-7(7), 10-5...Christopher Newport freshman Tessa Trate won all three of her completed matches this week as the Captains took on Division I Norfolk State and Mary Washington. She earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles against the D-I Spartans and then also picked up a 7-6 (5), 5-7, 7-5 victory against Claire Coleman for the Eagles. In doubles, she and Amanda Yermal snagged an 8-4 win against Abby Moghtader and Lauren Quinn in the match against UMW.
