UMW Men's Tennis Sees Six Singles Players, Three Doubles Teams Named to All-CAC Team

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Salisbury junior Alec Angradi rearned Player of the Year honors to headline the 2019 All-CAC Men's Tennis team. Salisbury's Randy Halfpap was chosen as Coach of the Year for the fourth time, while Christopher Newport freshman Ryan Macy picked up the other major award as Rookie of the Year.

Angradi, who played No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles for the Sea Gulls this spring, becomes the seventh Sea Gull to accomplish the feat, joining Eric Spangler (2016), Scott Burtzlaff (2009), Nick Peel (2003), Ben Madarang (1999) and Doug Neagle (1996 & 1997) in that elite club. Angradi posted a 9-4 overall No. 1 singles record this season, including a 3-0 mark in CAC play. In doubles, he compiled a 10-6 mark at the No. 2 position.

Macy becomes the second Captain to claim CAC Rookie of the Year accolades with David Reed capturing the award in 2015. Playing at No. 3 & No. 4 singles for much of the season, Macy pieced together a 16-8 overall singles mark, including a 4-1 record in CAC play.

Halfpap was chosen by his peers as the CAC Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career at Salisbury. Halfpap led the Sea Gulls to a 17-6 record in 2018-19 and the No. 2 seed in the CAC Tournament.

Mary Washington earned the most All-CAC honorees but putting all six singles players and all three doubles teams on the recognition list. The Eagles collected three first-team singles players and one on first-team doubles. Salisbury earned three first-team selections with two singles selections and one doubles pairing. Christopher Newport landed the final first-team singles spot, while Southern Virginia collected the No. 1 doubles position.
