UMW Men's Tennis Wraps Up Day Two of ITA South/Southeast Regional

The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA South/Southeast Regional at the Battleground, with four doubles teams and four singles players in action in the main draws.

In doubles action, the Eagles saw two doubles teams advance to quarterfinal action in the main draw. Ryland Byrd and Derek Hagino defeated Vik Vasan and Cody Kim of Johns Hopkins, 8-2, before falling in the quarters to Ray Boppana and Nicholas Calzolato of Carnegie Mellon, 8-4. Moses Hutchison and Matt Miles defeated Robert Levin and Yannick Bloehm of Carnegie Mellon, 8-6, before falling in the quarters to Austin Gu and Joseph Carteledge of Johns Hopkins, 8-7 (2).

Joseph Brown and Michael Fleming fell in the round of 16 on Saturday to Alex Fedor and Harry Shepard of Washington & Lee, 8-2, and Patrick Hughes and Cole Tecce fell to Colt Williamson and Ian Siew of Salisbury, 8-6.

In singles action, the Eagles had four competitors in play, with Matt Miles advancing to the quarterfinals by defeating Jiung Jung of Swarthmore, 6-1, 6-2, before falling to Chaz Downing of Carnegie Mellon.

Michael Fleming fell in the round of 16 to Josh Moskovitz of Haverford, 6-3, 6-2, while Patrick Hughes fell to Austin Gu of Johns Hopkins, 6-4, 7-5. Derek Hagino dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match to Vishnu Joshi of Johns Hopkins.
