#16 UMW Men's Tennis Sweeps Whittier, 9-0, to Cap Undefeated Sunday

The 16th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team capped an undefeated Sunday in California, as the Eagles topped Whittier College, 9-0, after defeating Caltech, 7-2, earlier in the day. UMW improves to 7-0 on the season.

The Eagles were challenged in all three doubles matches, but all three duos came away with 8-6 victories. Michael Fleming and Matt Miles won at one, Ryland Byrd and Moses Hutchison won at two, and Patrick Hughes and Ryan Berry won at three.

In singles, Miles won at one, 6-2, 6-3; Hughes won at two, 1-6, 7-6 (1), 1-0 (1). Byrd won at three, 6-1, 6-3, Fleming won at four, 6-1, 6-3, Joseph Brown won at five, 6-4, 6-3, and Cole Tecce won at six, 6-0, 6-2.

The Eagles will continue in California on Wednesday when they visit the University of Redlands.
